My dog: the best medicine for the soul

Many of us are tired of empty words., Of looks that hide a feeling instead of expressing it clearly. We are tired of advice, reproaches, counted kisses and regulatory hugs.

In this society we try to relate in the best possible way, we have learned a lot about relationships, but we have forgotten how unconditional affection is shown, how passion and loyalty is shown without being influenced by the past. We have forgotten that the only way to love is to open our hearts as if they never hurt us.

If we give our heart with fear, we receive the same thing. This is why we melt in front of a dog's gaze. The eyes become moist and the chest tightens with emotion when we remember these hairy angels who accompanied us for a period of our life, but who are no longer there.

There are many moments, and all beautiful, those with our dogs. For this reason, we can only thank them and claim their memory. For many people, dogs are pure souls who don't need to talk, because their displays of loyalty and infinite affection are the most beautiful language ever heard.

If you think you've hit rock bottom and have a dog, you don't just have hope, you have the best possible hope

When we adopt, give us or buy a dog, we make a commitment and a responsibility. There is no need to be afraid, though, because taking care of a dog, feeding it and taking it for a walk is a minimal effort compared to all the goodness that these animals offer.. We want to share with you an anonymous story that perfectly summarizes the importance of the existence of dogs and their relationship with humans:

Have you ever wondered why dogs live less than people?

Being a veterinarian, they called me to visit a 10 year old Irish Greyhound named Belker. The owners of the dog, Ron, his wife Lisa and little Shane, were very fond of Belker and were hoping for a miracle.

I visited Belker and found that he was dying of cancer. I told the family there was nothing more we could do for him and he offered me to euthanize their home.

We prepared everything; Ron and Lisa said it was a good idea for 6-year-old Shane to look after the dog. According to them, Shane could have learned something from that experience.

The next day he felt a familiar sensation in his throat as the family approached Belker. Shane seemed calm, he stroked the dog for the last time and I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within minutes, Belker fell asleep peacefully never to wake up again.

The child seemed to accept the fact without difficulty or confusion. We sat down for a moment to think why the life of animals is shorter than that of men. Shane, after listening carefully to each word, said, "I know why."

Surprised, we turned to look at him. What the child said surprised me, I had never heard a more comforting explanation than this. At that moment, the way of seeing life changed completely.

"People come into the world so they can learn how to live a good life, how to love others all the time and how to be good people, don't they?"

"Well, since dogs already know all these things, they don't need to be with us that long."

This tale simplifies the truth between dogs and humans. Both come into the world with feelings and a desire to be happy. Dogs have limitless love and do not carry a grudge. They approach or move away based on how they are treated. On the other hand, people learn a lot to keep their feelings for different reasons.

Some say that dogs do not have souls, others that they do not understand, that they are just "animals". We, on the other hand, seem to understand everything and at times we act without a soul, without compassion and without understanding. Do not listen to those who say that animals are stupid and that they can never give you the affection you need or that a dog's affection cannot be compared to that of a person.

With this, we are not saying that people are unable to give love. When they want, they do it very well. A dog, however, will always give love and his anger or his bad ways will never cause psychological distress to people.

When you go through a bad time, sit back, let a dog look at you and pet him. You may not be able to keep him at home, but you can seek his company by volunteering in a kennel. You will be able to help and at the same time receive the purest help in the world.

I hope my dog had a good life, mine was better with him

When you remember the moments you shared with your dog, you will feel peace and nostalgia. Even if you had to go through a thousand dramas in life, your dog would never let his guard down and he would never stop looking at you loyally. These memories are the purest of the heart and the emotional comfort your dog gives you is a treasure that you will always carry with you..

There are situations in which words are too many: it is just a matter of looking, accompanying and caressing. Pure love. Unconditional love. Sincere love.
