We can all be heroes of ourselves

We can all be heroes of ourselves

Last update: October 25, 2017

Waiting for someone to come and save us is a mistake, because no one will be able to do it better than we can. With a little help sometimes, yes. The best savior bears our name, because we too can be heroes of ourselves.

We don't need to wear a special costume or fight enemies with special powers. Just take care of yourself, pamper yourself when you need it. Otherwise it can happen that one day a malaise arrives and never goes away.

Being our own heroes will help us improve self-esteem, facilitate our path to our dreams and show the rest of the world that we have the skills to do what we want. Our happiness depends on us and, ultimately, on our heroism.

The importance of making decisions

A hero is characterized by his courage, his ability to act and to some extent his ability to build happiness. and well-being. How does he do it? Making decisions, choosing what to do and which direction to go. For this reason, if we want to become heroes of ourselves, our decisions will be very important.

The problem is that we are constantly busy making decisions, but we don't realize it. From the clothes we decide to wear, to what we eat or how we spend the day. Our routine is full of these decisions. But the best decision has to do with our attitude. How do we decide to face the day? Or even more simply, how do we take things that happen to us?

We often think we have less power over ourselves than we actually have. It will therefore be essential to decide how to behave and what attitude to adopt towards the various situations. A hero is aware of this and is committed. Do we want to get to work?

Let's stop entrusting the leading role to those inner voices that do not allow us to progress and imprison us in our comfort zone. We make the decision to save ourselves from this "bad comfort".

The hero and the enemies

A hero, in addition to his courage, also stands out because he fights against enemies with the aim of saving the world. If we want to behave as heroes of ourselves, then, we will also have to learn to fight against our enemies.

But who are our enemies? All that traps us in malaise and makes us feel small, such as fears, mistrust, conflicts, toxicity ... But most of all we are ourselves whenever we treat ourselves badly, we do not think about ourselves or forget all the potential that we have.

So do we have to fight ourselves? No. Unlike the heroes of films, television series and books, we must transform everything that harms us into something that produces well-being or at least into something we can always learn from. Our struggle is not a quarrel, but the understanding and knowledge to change what happens to us and start taking care of us. This is the key.

How to be our own heroes?

As we have seen, being aware of our decisions e push us towards an understanding attitude to become aware of what is happening and to transform it it helps us in the challenging task of becoming our own heroes. But what else can we do?

It is important that we start to analyze what or who is in control of our life. Is it our boss? Of our family? Work or social norms? When have we given them "permission" to do what they want with us?

By this we do not mean clearly that every person around us has turned into our enemy. Simply many times, even with the best intentions in the world, they can hinder our growth. This is why it is important to pay attention to the environment around us to make sure it does not affect us in a negative way.

But beware, the secret to be heroes of ourselves is not outside of us, but inside. It is the ability to make ourselves visible to our own eyes and give ourselves the importance we deserve, to give ourselves the best possible support. Because there is only one person who will always accompany us, for better or for worse: ourselves. So why waste time being our worst critics or enemies?

Let's take care of us, love each other, understand each other. The real heroes are not those who fight monsters nor those who fly. They are people who are able to save themselves every day, with the aim of making their own life fuller and making the people around them happy.
