With the increase in the foreign population in the country and the consequent opening of commercial establishments for the sale of ethnic and exotic foods, especially in large cities, we are increasingly able to find among the stalls types of vegetables that would otherwise be true. and their own rarities.

Così non è più difficile imbattersi nella melarosa, chiamata talvolta in del paese thai apple or java apple. In reality it has a more peripheral aspect, similar to a bell because of the concave opening in the lower part of the fruit, which on balance looks a lot like a pepper.

Melarosa is the generic name for the fruits of various plants of the genus Syzygium, especially the samarengense, the malanccense, the jambos, and the aqueum, related to the clove.

Once mature it has a shiny appearance and a rosy red color with green veins or creamy white, more or less intense depending on the variety. The pulp has more or less the consistency of watermelon pulp: crunchy but rich in water. The flavor is not very intense, sweet with a slight aroma and a barely perceptible hint of sour.
