Finding goals in life: 6 questions to understand what you want

Finding goals in life represents the highway for the success. Being able to find your own path helps more than anything else to be fulfilled in life. Based on my experience, I have come to the conclusion that success = goals; everything else is marginal.

A strong, decisive and decisive one goal orientation is a essential feature - if not "supreme" - of every person of success. You can't achieve a high performance in any field unless you first learn to set goals for yourself - and obviously also to reach them - with the same naturalness and spontaneity you do many other things with every day, such as eating, bathing, sleeping, and so on.

In this article I will reveal to you a specific and practical procedure to succeed in find goals in life: instead of wandering randomly, you will learn to focus and concentrate on what you really want, which will help you understand what your path is.

6 questions to find goals in life

Here six questions that you absolutely must carry if you want identify your goals. I advise you to take a pen and paper and to write you the answers. Try to give answers thinking big ma with objectives that are always concrete, measurable and objectively assessable (becoming Batman or Catwoman is not one of them!). Good exercise!

1) What are the five most important values in your life?

This question helps you clarify what's really important in your life and what is less so, or not at all. Identify the things that matter most to you and then prioritize them, from number 1 which is the most important to number 5 which is the least important. Define and "classify" your own values it is significant in how much they represent the most authentic "core" of what we are, of our personality; therefore, being clear with ourselves about our values allows us to select objectives that are consistent with our best.

2) What are the three most important goals for you right now?

You have to write your answer straight away, in 30 seconds! This is the method of quick list: if you only have 30 seconds to write down your main goals, unconsciously and instinctively you will identify your most heartfelt and authentic goals, and you will be as accurate as if you had half an hour to spare.

3) What would you do if you won a million euros in the lottery tomorrow?

Ask yourself how your life would change if you had a large amount of extra money from tomorrow. What would you buy? What would you start doing? What would you stop doing? Also in this case, try to answer immediately, in one go, at most in a couple of minutes. It is a question that helps you understand what you would do if you had all the money and time you need, if you potentially have no fear of failing. Thereby you will understand how many and what things you would do differently, if only you had the ability to choose.

4) What have you always wanted to do, but never had the courage to try?

This question helps you to understand how your fears hold you back from doing what you really want. Be honest with yourself: don't think about everything that binds you to your current life, as this would only create alibis for you! Rather, write what you really want to do, as if you have no constraints or alibis to hold on to. On the other hand, as I have already argued in another article, doing what you fear helps to overcome fear!

5) What do you like to do most of all? What fuels your self-esteem and personal satisfaction more than anything else?

Here is another question for value, which can serve you to listen to the voice of your heart, to understand what do you really want. You know well that you can be happier only by doing what you love, and that this activity is the only one that would do you feel more fulfilled and alive. It is no coincidence that the most successful people are the ones who do what they love most of their time.

6) What is the greatest thing you would dare to dream and imagine to achieve if you knew you could not fail?

Imagine that Aladdin's genie of the lamp materializes before you, allowing you to express a single desire to be fulfilled. Genius assures you that you will achieve success, complete and without compromise, in something you try to do, big or small, in the short or long term. If success were totally guaranteed to you in one thing, which one would you choose? What exciting and challenging goal would you set yourself?

Conclusion
