Our emotional development affects to a large extent the person we will become. Knowing how to manage our emotions correctly will make us smarter, but to succeed it is essential to receive the right teaching. One of the most innovative resources in this sense is theEmotional.

L'Emzionario is a book designed for young and old as an educational resource to help us define what we feel, its causes and its influence. In this way, in addition to knowing each other, we will be more easily empathetic. Understanding what others are feeling makes us more compassionate, but also smarter.

And you, do you know L'Emzionario?

What is emotional intelligence?

Emotional intelligence is defined as the ability to recognize and manage emotions, grasping their message and channeling their energy in a positive way. It is a skill that marks our social life, but also other equally important fields, such as the dialogues we maintain with ourselves or the thoughts we feed.

"Knowing oneself is the beginning of all wisdom.".

-Aristotle-

Emotional intelligence is not part of traditional psychology and its birth as a concept dates back to less than a century ago. It does not fit conventional IQ tests, which is why, according to some, the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is now obsolete. Tests aimed at measuring IQ, in fact, tend to consider other types of intelligence, more analytical or logical. However, having developed such intelligences does not make us better able to control our emotions.

Any tool that can help us investigate emotional intelligence more is welcome. Among these is the Emzionario.

What is the Stock?

It is a dictionary-like book that lists 42 entries, one for emotion:

Love, Relief, Remorse, Fear, Abandonment, Enthusiasm, Envy, Tenderness, Serenity, Guilt, Fright, Loneliness, Euphoria, Desire, Hate, Happiness, Shame, Disgust, Nostalgia, Discouragement, Satisfaction, Anger, Cheerfulness, Insecurity, Hostility, Melancholy, Disappointment, Pride, Irritation, Sadness, Shyness, Acceptance, Boredom, Frustration, Pleasure, Tension, Compassion, Confusion, Misunderstanding, Illusion, Admiration, Gratitude.

Each item is accompanied by an illustration representing the emotion and a brief description of the characteristics of the same. There is an additional point about it, such as a cause, consequence, or other aspect that links this emotion to the next one.

The book was born within a project called Tell me what you feel, which, to use his own words, is responsible for “exploring the emotional dimension of the child in particular and of any person in general”. L'Emzionario is one of its components: there is also a Diary of Gratitude, activity sheets, a guide to reading, a laboratory of emotions and ideas to exploit the images of the Emotionary.

It is undoubtedly a project (or itinerary, as they prefer to call it) rich in resources.

How is L'Emzionario used?

This book is perfect for children from 6 years old, age in which more complex emotions begin to be experienced. Before the age of 6 it may seem a bit complex, but if you have the time and availability, you can also adapt it to younger children.

L'Emzionario looks like ao teaching tool for parents and teachers. It is useful in the home to strengthen the bond between children and parents through an understanding of emotions and communication. It is also useful in school, as the additional material can help stimulate doubts, dialogues and exchanges of ideas in the classroom.

Why is it a useful tool?

Whether you are parents, teachers or simply adults of reference for children, you will find in the Equation a very useful tool. At home, the book can be used as a night reading, with the help of the parent (to strengthen the bond with the child) or individually (to stimulate interpersonal intelligence).

At school, however, the vast can be exploited additional material to the book: offers us free cards classified for different educational levels (kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school). The cards contain coloring pages related to the various emotions, simple questions, staging of emotions, identification of the same through drawings or situations, etc.

You also have access to complete material designed for "Help the little ones to recognize their emotions and express them using the right words", according to the document.

Emotional intelligence is one of the skills on which we develop our person and our relationships. L'Emozionario is therefore of great help to give value to emotions and bring them closer to the little ones.
