We are encouraged to win, to be the best, to fulfill many responsibilities, etc. Some people take these suggestions as obligations and internalize them, inadvertently enslaving their lives and making their existence a race after time. In this case and in others where the person is under great stressbeing able to delegate tasks or responsibilities usually helps.

Some people, however, have the opportunity to share a task but do not recognize this possibility or oppose it. These are generally individuals who give extreme importance to what is considered socially correct.

Often they say firmly that they "must" take care of something. Leisure situations also become an obligation. Not surprisingly this wanting to do everything is a factor that increases stress. But how does it manifest itself in practice? What are the most important points to change?

Those who find it difficult to delegate and trust others' ability to solve problems also tend to over-protect their family members.

In light of this, they perform many tasks that are not within their competence and they rarely ask for help unless absolutely necessary.

These individuals tend to control and want to be informed of any problems. They are specialists in finding seemingly reasonable excuses not to delegate.

Stress, fatigue and leisure

Although it causes them gratification, dealing with everything is exhausting and stressful. It prevents them from enjoying even simple and everyday pleasures, but also from relationships with others.

The difficulty in focusing on the positive aspects becomes visible in social situations, where criticism of everything wrong emerges.

Playing different roles in different contexts isn't strange at all. We have to grow professionally, take care of parents, children, partners, friends, without losing the joy and desire to create along the way. But with patience and dedication, we can manage stress better and gradually transform internal demand.

Some general and important points for change

  • Remember that self-esteem does not depend on perceiving ourselves or being perceived as perfect beings.
  • We can stop and analyze the reasons we give ourselves for taking on the tasks of others, even better if we invite others to think with us. Are we dominated by fears?
  • Trust the will and ability of others.
  • Observe the areas where people around us perform best. We all have our strengths, recognizing them strengthens the bonds.
  • Delegate according to the possibilities and age of each person. Everyone can contribute.
  • Working as a team in different areas means coordination and interaction, not involving external parties.
  • Stimulate proper group communication, so that everyone can feel comfortable expressing themselves.
  • Define each task well, as well as the reasons for doing so.
  • Collaborate.

Delegating does not mean forgetting

It is important to understand that delegating does not mean neglecting something, but to give space to others, so that everyone can learn from experience.

It also allows you to think more strategically while fighting stress. Trying to control everything is no guarantee of effectiveness.

Accepting that even striving to give your best, life requires you to take on different possibilities, benefits the ability to adapt and brings you closer to the answer to our initial question "why delegating tasks reduces stress"?
